Model to Shop Floor
A 3D model shows shape. A drawing communicates intent.
Machine drawings from existing CAD — production-ready drawings with views, dimensions, GD&T, finishes, and callouts. Built so the shop can make the part the first time, without guessing what the model was trying to say.
Why It Matters
The Gap Between “Modeled” and “Made”
Most models are built to look right, not to be built. When the shop gets one of those, they fill the gap with a guess: which features matter, what the finish is, how tight the fit really needs to be. Every guess is a coin flip that comes due as scrap, rework, or a phone call to the customer.
A good drawing closes that gap. Views that show what matters, dimensions that mean something, GD&T where function requires it — a part the machinist can build once, correctly.
What’s Included
Everything the Shop Needs, Nothing It Has to Guess
From your model to a drawing that works on the floor:
01
Views That Communicate
The right views for the part — section and auxiliary views only where they earn their place. Nothing decorative, nothing missing.
02
Dimensions That Matter
A dimensioning scheme built from function — the machinist sees at a glance which features carry the part, and which just have to exist.
03
GD&T to ASME Y14.5-2018
Applied where function requires it — not sprinkled everywhere as decoration, and not skipped where the fit depends on it.
04
Material & Finish Callouts
Material, heat treat, and surface finish — complete and unambiguous, so no one improvises on the floor.
05
Title Block & Notes
Your company standard if you have one — or a clean, complete one we set up for you. Notes that answer the questions before they’re asked.
06
Assembly & BOM Where Needed
Assemblies drawn with bills of material that your shop and your ERP can use — including weldments, where the callouts are the whole job.
Who It’s For
You Have the Model. Now You Need the Part.
Manufacturers With Models, No Drafters
Models ready, shop waiting — the gap is the drawing. We close it, in your standard.
Engineering Teams
Release-ready drawings without pulling engineers off design work to draw them.
Product Teams
A model from a designer or freelancer that looks great — and no idea what it takes to make it. We know.
US & Mexico
Drawings your shop and your suppliers can both read — in English or Spanish, your call.
How It Works
Model In, Shop-Ready Drawing Out
01
Send the Model
SolidWorks, Inventor, or STEP — plus one sentence on what the part does. We reply with a scoped quote within 48 hours.
02
We Scope the Drawing
Views, depth of GD&T, your standard — confirmed with you before a single line is drawn. Model issues surface here, not at delivery.
03
We Draft
Views, dimensions, GD&T, callouts, title block — drafted to your standard and checked against the model, feature by feature.
04
You Get Shop-Ready Files
PDF for the floor, native file for your system — reviewed by you, revised until it’s right.
The Deliverable
A Drawing the Shop Won’t Have to Guess At
What you get back:
- Production-ready drawings in PDF plus native CAD, to your standard
- GD&T to ASME Y14.5-2018 where function requires it — and explained when it does
- Tolerance stack-up where the assembly needs it
- Material, finish, and heat-treat callouts — complete, so nothing is improvised
- Title block and notes your shop won’t have to interpret
- All files yours, in your format, kept exactly as you asked
When your shop calls with a question, the answer is on the drawing — that’s the test we draw to.
FAQ
Common Questions
What do you need from us?
The model — SolidWorks, Inventor, or STEP — and one sentence on what the part has to do. That’s enough to scope the drawing and give you a quote within 48 hours.
Can you work to our company drafting standard?
Yes — send us your template and standard and the drawing comes back in it. No reformatting on your side, no “close enough.”
Is GD&T included?
Where the part needs it — GD&T to ASME Y14.5-2018 is our specialty. And if a part doesn’t need it, we’ll tell you: sprinkling tolerances everywhere is cost, not quality.
How fast is it?
A scoped quote within 48 hours, then typical turnaround of a few days to two weeks depending on complexity. If the date matters, we’ll give you an honest one — not a hopeful one.
What if the model has problems?
You’ll hear about it during scoping, not at delivery. Missing features, broken geometry, or ambiguous intent get flagged and priced up front — the model gets fixed or the drawing gets drawn around it, your call.
Do you do weldments and assemblies?
Yes — assembly drawings with bills of material your shop and ERP can use, and weldment drawings with the weld callouts that are the whole job.
From Model to Shop Floor — Without the Guessing
Send the model and a sentence on what the part does. Scoped quote within 48 hours — no commitment.
